Terms of Service

Last updated November 02, 2026

Who we are

Bower is run by Curious Lab ("we", "us"). These terms are the agreement between you and us for using Bower on the web at getbower.app and in the Bower apps. If you have a question about them, write to [email protected].

Who can use Bower

Anyone can create an account with their email address, but pods are invite-only: you see a pod only if you create it or a member invites you.

You must be 16 or older to use Bower. If you're younger, you can use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms for you.

You sign in with a code we email you. Anyone who can read your email can sign in as you, so keep your email account secure.

Your content

The photos, messages, events, lists, comments and reactions you post stay yours. You give us permission to store them, process them (for example, resizing photos and removing their location) and show them to the members of the pod you posted them in, only as far as we need to run Bower. That permission ends when the content is deleted.

Only post what you have the right to share. If you post a photo of someone, make sure they'd be comfortable with the people in that pod seeing it.

Photos and safety

Don't post:

  • sexual content involving anyone under 18;
  • intimate or sexual images of anyone without their consent;
  • violent or hateful material;
  • anything illegal.

Bower doesn't check photos for harmful content. If you see something in a pod that breaks these rules, tell us at [email protected] with a link to it.

If we find child sexual abuse material, we remove it, suspend the account, and report it to the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation and the eSafety Commissioner.

Using Bower well

Pods are for people who know each other. When you use Bower, don't:

  • harass, threaten, bully or impersonate anyone;
  • share other people's photos or personal information without the right to;
  • send spam or advertising;
  • forward emails to a pod that you don't have the right to share with its members;
  • try to get into accounts, pods or parts of Bower you aren't meant to, or disrupt the service.

Pod admins can remove members from their pod, and you can leave a pod at any time.

Suspension

We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts people at risk. A suspended account is signed out everywhere and can't sign in. Photos it was still sending stop. Its content stays unless we remove it, and we may remove content that breaks these terms.

Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and explain why. We can lift a suspension. Closing an account is up to you: use Delete account in your settings.

Bower is provided as it is

We work to keep Bower running and your content safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own copies of the photos that matter to you.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't be excluded. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, and where we're allowed to limit our liability, it is limited to supplying the service again.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top of this page changes. If a change matters, we'll tell you in Bower or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Bower after that, the new terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia, and the courts of Victoria can hear any dispute about them.
